These days, everyone and their dog are boasting unlimited benefits from the learning of Tai Chi: Fall prevention, asthma and arthritic relief, white blood cell production boosts, etc etc (yawn).
But I'd like to ask a more direct question: Other than gaining immortality, acquiring the lung capacity of a Blue Whale or the stretching ligaments of Mr Fantastic - how can Tai Chi help me get through my hectic and busy work schedule?
Productivity and task effieicency is the name of the game, and for all of us who find ourselves increasingly staring at a mobile or fixed computer screen during the day, we need help for maintaining a balance and sense of proportion when tackling the list of tasks to complete each and every day. Immortaility is all well and good, but hows it going to help me Get Things Done?
Well today we are going to explore how some ideas - namely Getting Things Done (GTD) - can help us stay on top of the endless series of tasks in this addictive and obsessive list-making world.
And we will be asking: Can Taoists keep lists? Would Lao Tzu have used a productivity method? Would krishnamurti have written a shopping list or would he have spontaneously bought whatever caught his metaphysical fancy on a supermarket shelf, and then on getting home, kicked himself for forgetting the Dog biscuits and microwavable yoghurts?
Found out on todays episode how productivity theories might just have something to say to the 21st century Bean curd Warrior.
